Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, 29, has recently expressed how flattered she is by the positive reviews given by people who watched "Piku," which was directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Juhi Chaturvedi.
"I know it may sound funny, but a lot of people want to adopt me," Padukone shared how people reacted after watching "Piku," as Hindustan Times quoted her saying. For her, it has been the "biggest compliment."
"Piku" is a heart-warming father-daughter story with Padukone and "Wazir" star Amitabh Bachchan playing the lead roles.
"The response has been overwhelming," said Padukone, who plays the title role, the independent and free-spirited daughter.
According to Padukone, who previously starred in "Finding Fanny" and "Happy New Year," they had all thought that "Piku" is a sweet film that people will connect with but none of them had expected it to "become this big."
"My family is my biggest critic," said Padukone who is the daughter of former badminton star Prakash Padukone. She said her family always watches her films and would always tell her how things could have been better.
However, the actress said there was an absolute silence when her family called her after watching "Piku." She said her family was so overwhelmed by what they had seen in the film that they were lost for words.
With its rave reviews, "Piku" is also set to become the third highest-grossing Bollywood film in 2015, according to Koimoi.
Also in the "Piku" cast are Irrfan Khan, Moushumi Chatterjee, Raghuvir Yadav, Jishu Sengupta, Ananya Sircar and Akshay Oberoi, among others.
