"Mad Max: Fury Road" star Tom Hardy has recently received a compliment from "Intestellar" writer Christopher Nolan, who compared him to the late actors Marlon Brando and Charles Laughton.
In an interview with Hindustan Times at the on-going 2015 Cannes Film Festival, Hardy was told that Nolan said he has the combination of Brando's inner intensity and Laughton's outer expressiveness.
Brando won Best Actor from the Academy Awards twice for the 1954 film "On The Waterfront" and the 1972 film "The Godfather" while Laughton won Best Actor from the Academy Awards in 1934 for the film "The Private Life Of Henry VIII."
"That's a really lovely thing to say," Hardy commented on being compared to Brando and Laughton by Nolan. "I don't know what to say. I love Christopher Nolan. Thanks for saying that. (But it's) Not true."
Hardy added, "That's a big one. No. Brando is Brando. I am me. I pull faces and then do my best."
When it comes to his international stardom, Hardy said fame will pass and nowadays, there are a lot of famous people around. For him, people just do not really care in a way that much, and he does not want to invest in being famous.
Directed by George Miller, "Mad Max: Fury Road" also stars "A Million Ways To Die In The West" star Charlize Theron, "X-Men: Apocalypse" star Nicholas Hoult, "Flesh And Bone" actor Josh Helman, "Insurgent" star Zoe Kravitz and "Insidious: Chapter 3" actor Angus Sampson, among others.
Also in the "Mad Max: Fury Road" cast is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who chose to be with her boyfriend "Furious 7" star Jason Statham in Los Angeles instead of joining her co-stars at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, according to Daily Mail.
