Pixar's "Inside Out" was recently released at the Cannes Film Festival, where it also received positive reactions from event attendees. Ahead of its June 19 release, director Pete Docter explained the concept of the film. He also revealed the person who inspired him to come up with the plot.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Docter revealed that the story for "Inside Out" first came to him back in 2009, when his daughter, Elie, now 16, started growing up.
According to Docter, his daughter started off a young kid who did not necessarily have that much care in the world. However, when she started growing up, she started to become conscious and aware of her surroundings. As a result, Elie constantly wondered where she could fit in.
At that time, Docter wondered what was going on inside his daughter's head and that is when he decided to pitch the idea of "Inside Out."
The animated movie chronicles the thoughts that go on inside 11-year-old Riley's head, specifically her emotions. Each emotion is given life by some of the most renowned celebrities in Hollywood today, The Wrap reported.
Joy is given life by comedian Amy Poehler, Disgust is given life by Mindy Kaling, Sadness is given life by Phyllis Smith, Fear is given life by Bill Hader and Anger is given life by Lewis Black.
In order to give his concept more depth, Docter also revealed that he talked to a neurologist to ask what exactly does a memory look like. However, the experts said that they do not really know.
Whether or not "Inside Out" will be a huge success, is something audiences will find out this coming June 19.
