Arclight Films' genre-driven unit Darclight has recently revealed that the global market premiere of the 3D sci-fi film “Lost in the Pacific” is scheduled later this year, starting with China.
The action adventure is under the helm of premier director Vincent Zhou ("Last Flight") and is top-billed by Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") and Chinese star Zhang Yuqi ("White Deer Plain").
The film is currently in its post-production stage.
Darclight, who is managing the international sales of the film, is set to present a footage in Cannes for the first time before global distributors.
Meanwhile, the international sales outfit Arclight is confident that the movie will be a success.
The entire team, both in front of and behind the camera, has created a thrilling masterpiece that is sure to "entice and exhilarate distributors and audiences all over the world," said Arclight's managing director Gary Hamilton.
"Lost in the Pacific" revolves around the story of a group of passengers who are stranded in a remote Pacific Ocean island after an emergency landing was undertaken by their luxury airliner.
The group, upon trying to survive and making means to get their plane back in the air, soon discovers that the island they are in is run by strange, mutated beings.
Director Zhou said that Huace Studio will serve as the film's main local distributor, adding that "'Lost in the Pacific' will be the first movie to be distributed by its own distribution department."
"Huace is the second largest public company in the entrainment industry in China and has been developing a successful model for distribution and looks forward to the film's release later this year," he added.
