The United States Information and Technology industry is in need of more workers and is in need of the brightest minds all over the world and get on board.
Silicon Valley firms has around 545,000 technical IT jobs that still remains vacant in the country which is having great impact on the American IT industry at present time. These IT firms have been debating about increasing the demand for more H-1B visas to attract bright technical people all over the globe, according to Economic Times.
According to the President of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, Robert Atkinson, Silicon Valley's advanced technological industries powers up the United States economy through its developments and breakthroughs. Refuting their ability to acquire skilled and bright workers that they need is the same as tying one hand behind their backs.
"Instead, the United States should raise the cap on H-1B visas and broaden overall high-skill innovation so that our economic engine can be fuelled by the brightest minds from all over the world," Atkinson explained.
Atkinson, the voice of the U.S. IT industry, announced that the industry needs more skilled IT workers to fill in the vacant job positions. The shortage in manpower hinders the firms to pursue its growth. The vacant positions remains open since there are not enough qualified persons for high-skilled posts called the "STEM" fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, NDTV Profit reported.
With this update of imbalance in supply and demand for H1-B visa workers, the Immigration got more than 233,000 applicants in a few days' time. However, only 85,000 permits are currently available which forced the admin to draw the lottery system.
