Kung fu movie icon Jackie Chan joined officials in Beijing on Wednesday to kick off Olympic Music Week, as the city intensifies its campaign to host the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Chan introduced his new song, "Wake Up Winter," in support of the campaign, and was awarded with a certificate by city officials.
"It's a big honor and pleasure to participate in this and do something for the Winter Olympics bidding," the 60-year-old Chan said. "If there is anything I can do, I will be there every time."
Chan lent his vocal chords to Beijing's bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics, and recorded a song called "Wake Up Winter" to support the campaign.
Best known for doing his own stunts in more than 100 movies, Chan has also recorded albums in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He was also a major supporter of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, where he performed his song "We Are Ready" during the closing ceremony.
Olympic Music Week is "intended to explore the unique charm of Olympic music and "promote global exchange in music culture," according to the state-owned Xinhua News Agency. It was previously held in August to mark the sixth anniversary of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Beijing is trying to become the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics and is seen by analysts to be the favorite in the election over its sole rival, the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan.
The winning host will be announced in July 31 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
