"Grey's Anatomy" actor Patrick Dempsey is reportedly in talks with producers for a new or returning TV series slated around September or October. Meanwhile, his reps are denying any conflict with Shondaland boss Shonda Rhimes.

Dempsey played Derek Shepherd a.k.a. McDreamy opposite Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey in the ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy." Derek winds up braindead after docs in an ill-equipped hospital failed to give him the best care. He got in a car accident after saving the victims of an earlier road mishap. Meredith pulls the plug a couple of episodes from the season finale.
A report by Entertainment Weekly pointed out Dempsey signed a contract that supposedly lasts until the next television season. His unexpected death in "Grey's Anatomy" fueled rumors that he may have a disagreement with series creator Shonda Rhimes, who also heads the Shondaland productions.
However, the same report said Dempsey's reps denied there's a rift between him and Rhimes. The show boss has earlier issued a statement saying she never thought she would have to bid McDreamy goodbye.
"Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character - for Meredith, for me and for the fans," Rhimes said in a statement published on TVLine.
"I want to try something different. But will I be allowed to do something different?" Dempsey earlier told EW. The publication's sources said it is only normal for Dempsey to be in talks to other producers at this point. EW sources also said it is not too late for the actor to jump into a new or returning series, even as the next television season is only a few months away.
