"Scandal" Season 5 is expected to present many of the show's characters in different ways. At this point, the audience is not even sure if everyone is returning. Portia de Rossi is certainly coming back, but Guillermo Diaz is not giving any guarantee that he is staying.
Spoiler alert: This update contains "Scandal" Season 4 spoilers. Read on at your own risk if you are not caught up.
Elizabeth North a.k.a. Lizzie Bear (Portia de Rossi) finds a way to crumble the ground on which Mellie (Bellamy Young) has been standing. Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) kicks her wife out of the White House for taking part albeit inadvertently in the killing of an entire jury.
The worst for Fitz is that Mellie and Cyrus (Jeff Perry) have the audacity to carry on with their lies when he confronted them. Cyrus gets fired. Lizzie Bear then tackles two targets in one go. She is definitely coming back in "Scandal" Season 5. In fact, Portia de Rossi has been promoted to series regular from recurring guest.
Portia de Rossi told TVLine it is payback time for Lizzie Bear. She is no longer at Mellie's beck and call, and Cyrus cannot look down on her anymore. However, Liz also has her fair share of dirt. Whatever happens next, nobody is safe.
Meanwhile, the changes are not as easy for Huck as they are for Lizzie Bear, at least as of the finale episode of "Scandal" Season 4. For one, there is a gun pointed at Huck's face, and the gun-toting character is one of his most trusted friends, Quinn (Katie Lowes). Will Huck die?
"In the original script, Quinn ends up walking away from Huck and obviously doesn't shoot him," Guillermo Diaz told TV Guide, adding he does not know what happens next, since the script has been changed.
"Scandal" Season 5 is expected to answer at least some if not all questions when the series premieres on ABC. It is expected to return by the final quarter of the year.
