In "Game of Thrones" Season 5, Episode 7, Melisandre tells Stannis that killing his daughter Shireen would guarantee his victory. Shireen's royal blood, Stannis' own "king's blood," would please the Lord of Light, according to Melisandre. Stannis rejects the idea. But how strong is his resolve?
There is no holding back when it comes to Melisandre's quest to place Stannis Baratheon in the Iron Throne. Ser Davos does not know this yet, but fans know he will not consider the idea even for a moment. Shireen's mother, Selyse Florent, will probably not hesitate.
Melisandre tried to convince Jon Snow to come with them to Winterfell, but the latter refused. It would be Jon's life on the line if he had agreed to fight on Stannis' side. Now, Melisandre is trying to convince Stannis that Shireen's blood is even better than Jon's. Will Shireen die in the hands of his own parents?
In other developments in In "Game of Thrones" Season 5, Episode 7, Sam and Gilly have sex, partly mirroring the events in "A Feast for Crows" from George R.R. Martin's book series, "A Song of Ice and Fire." Their physical relationship develops after the death of Maester Aemon, just like in the book.
Meanwhile, Jon Snow travels with the wildlings to begin a new tradition. Toward the end of "A Dance with Dragons," an attack in Castle Black will put Jon Snow in harm's way. Now that the TV adaptation is veering farther from the books, Jon's fate is one of the plots that is getting even more interesting.
Two other things in "Game of Thrones" Season 5, Episode 7 sent happy waves through the viewers. One, things begin falling apart like they never have for Cersei. This takes place in the books, the second one is an independent creative move from showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff: Tyrion and Daenerys meet for the first time.
Book readers and speculators alike expect more deaths to happen in "Game of Thrones" Season 5. The next episode (Episode 8: "Hardhome") is expected to deliver more shockers (also not-from-books).
