Motorola has kept its silence about the company's upcoming flagship smartphone, the third generation Moto X 2015. However, new rumors claim that the smartphone switched to a more powerful Snapdragon 808 processor conflicting the initial speculation that it will use a Snapdragon 801 chip.
Both processors, Snapdragon 808 and Snapdragon 801, were manufactured by Qualcomm. However, the Snapdragon 808 has more processing power courtesy of the 1.8 GHz dual-core Cortex A57 and 1.44 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 processors. The Snapdragon also has a more powerful Adreno 418 GPU and will be one of the first smartphone to have 4 gigabyte of internal memory, according to GSM Arena.
According to Vine Report, if Motorola will stay on its usual release schedule, the third generation Moto X 2015 will be released within the third or fourth quarter of 2015. A closer release window is estimated to be around August or September.
An unofficial specs list of the third generation Moto X 2015 includes an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors on a 5.2-inch display screen. Screen resolution is expected to be 1440 x 2560 with 565 ppi pixel density.
The smartphone will run the latest on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system. Rumors also claim that Motorola will ditch the usual microSD card support and instead will release the smartphone in two variants depending on its storage space; a 32 gigabyte and 64 gigabyte model.
The Moto X 2015 is expected to have a 16 megapixel primary camera capable of taking images of up to 5312 x 2988 resolution. It has autofocus technology with optical image stabilization and dual-LED flash. The smartphone will also have a 5 megapixel front facing camera.
The smartphone's official price is yet to be announced.
