"Aquaman" is ready to roll, especially now that "Furious 7" filmmaker James Wan has agreed to direct and oversee the script.
Onboarding Wan is a decisive step for Warner Bros. since "Aquaman" will be the first standalone feature film of the Justice League of America character. The 38-year-old Malaysian-born film producer-cum-screenwriter's creative expertise is crucial, given the studio's thrust of expanding its slate of DC superhero flicks, Variety reported
"Aquaman" counts among the highly anticipated films lined up for the next three years. It has been much-publicized, particularly since the lead role will be portrayed by "Game of Thrones" actor Jason Momoa. While Momoa will be flexing his bulging biceps as "King of the Seven Seas," Wan will let his creative juices flow again.
Wan's avid followers are thrilled that he is set to work on a big-budget action-adventure movie that promises to be a box office hit. He has concentrated on several horror genre flicks, before taking on the directorial job of "Fast and Furious 7."
Wan and Momoa make a formidable team. Film producers are immensely pleased with the dynamic that Wan and Momoa will bring to the big screen.
A WB ranking executive specifically noted Wan's impressive track record in taking on projects and making them huge hits. Clear-cut illustrations are the seventh installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, "The Conjuring," and "Saw," The Washington Post reported.
"Aquaman" will hit theaters in 2018. In March 2016, Aquaman will make a crossover appearance in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
