In March, the software company Motorola declared that the Droid Turbo smartphone won't be receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop treatment, but will directly be updated to Android 5.1.
Now, according to new reports, Motorola will begin rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Droid Turbo smartphone beginning on June 10, Android Geeks reported.
Some users of the smartphone will be hit sooner, while other users will have to wait a little bit, depending on location. Droid Turbo owners can check if the Android 5.1 update has arrived by checking their smartphone manually via Settings>System Updates.
The Lollipop update will have the build number 23.11.33. and will be an over-the-air one. In addition, it will include several features characteristic to Android 5.1 and Android 5.0 including battery saver mode via Project Volta, Android ART runtime, new security features, two-finger Quick Settings menu from any page, the new Recent Apps page, Material Design and Lock Screen notifications.
The Android 5.1 update will bring many bug fixes for issues prevalent in Android 5.0. However, this does not mean that the update will not have issues and bugs.
Motorola's Luciano Carvalho said that with lots of different environment conditions and lots of usage variations, presently, it is not possible to make it bug free.
Furthermore, it is not known if the Android 5.1 update will fix the problems owners have been experiencing with the Droid Turbo's battery.
The Motorola Droid Turbo comes with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It is powered by a Snapdragon 805 SoC and has 3GB of RAM and 32GB and 64GB options, according to iDigitalTimes.
