The main star trio of Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" will not appear in Colin Trevorrow's "Jurassic World," and here is why.
Trevorrow told Cinema Blend that Spielberg wanted to make something new, a "Jurassic Park" for the new generation. Trevorrow also mentioned that Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm were not included in earlier conversations about the prequel nor in the earlier drafts of the upcoming film.
In his interview with Too Fab, Trevorrow said that having a new experience will ideally create a feeling similar to the way the original film felt. But this is not possible as the two films are different.
In Spielberg's 1993 "Jurassic Park," Sam Neill played archeologist Alan Grant, Laura Dern played botanist Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum played chaotician Ian Malcolm. The original film introduced the trio, each having their own guts and wits.
Spielberg's 1997 "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" centered on Malcolm as he discovered Isla Sorna, also known as "Site B." Grant and Sattler had no major role in the film, but they returned in Joe Johnston's "Jurassic Park III" in 2001, in which Grant visits Isla Sorna and helps a family become united.
Meanwhile, the only character from Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" who will appear in Trevorrow's "Jurassic World" is BD Wong, who will reprise his role as lead geneticist Dr. Henry Wu.
While the original trio are not going to appear in Trevorrow's upcoming "Jurassic World," it is still possible for the fans to see them in action should there be a sequel for the upcoming dinosaur film.
Aside from Wong, "Jurassic World" also stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Brian Tee, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, and Judy Greer.
Trevorrow's "Jurassic World" is slated to hit theaters on June 12. Watch the final trailer here:
