Microsoft has held the timed exclusivity for the "Call of Duty" series for its Xbox platform, but recently, Sony managed to land the deal, for the upcoming "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3."
The timed exclusivity comes in the form of add-on content, which will come to the PS4 first once "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" comes out on Nov. 6. But it is interesting that Sony's Andrew House revealed that the deal will extend beyond this year's COD title, Game Spot reported.
However, Sony did not supply any more details on what that entails in terms of exclusivity. There was a hint that the timed exclusivity, at least for this year's title, will encompass all DLCs.
The particular move of the COD exclusivity from Xbox to PlayStation has long been rumored for months now. It came after Treyarch's David Vonderhaar previously responded to a fan query about timed exclusivity not with a definitive yes to the usual Xbox deals. Instead, he had referred to an official announcement to take place later on care of Activision.
It was also further hinted on when Microsoft's conference did not feature "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" at E3 2015, Attack of the Fanboy reported. Also at the event, a new trailer for the title's multiplayer has been featured via the PS4. This can be seen in the video below as well.
Treyarch has been touting "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" as a COD title that is unlike any that has been seen or developed before. The trailer shows some gameplay, weapons and some of the maps.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will release on the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. There will be a beta coming this August to the PS4 before the game is released to the public.
