The much-awaited expansion “Destiny: The Taken King” release will happen on Sep. 15 in just a couple of months and cost around $39.99, just as previously rumored.
Developer Bungie has released a trailer for the expansion at the Sony E3 press conference which revealed that the Oryx, father of Crota is indeed “The Taken King,” according to IGN.
Players will pit against Oryx - a Destiny raid boss along with his new army named The Taken, as he will be reportedly looking for revenge.
Just as speculated earlier, the expansion will give the players access to three new subclasses with special supers—a void bow for hunters; an electrical storm for warlocks; and a flame hammer for titans, along a bunch of new loot, new strikes, puzzles to solve, new crucible maps and most likely a few surprises.
“Destiny: The Taken King” is also available in a Collector’s Edition, that is exclusive to GameStop in the United States. The Collector’s Edition will pack a copy of “Destiny: The Taken King” along with the previous expansions - “House of Wolves” and “The Dark Below,” in a steelbook case, Polygon reported.
With the Collector’s Edition, players will also get early access to a weapon pack and Cayde-6’s Intel Cache that features - Modified Treasure Island Book with Intro Letter from Cayde-6, Collection of Relics and Artifacts, Weapon Schematic, Cayde-6’s Personal Notes and Illustrations and Strange Coin Replica.
In case of digital version of the expansion, players will have XP boots, three class-specific emotes, three exotic class items and three armour shaders.
The collector’s edition of “Destiny: The Taken King,” which will be out on Sep. 15, is already available for pre-order on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for $80.
