Electronic Arts' upcoming title for 2015, "Star Wars: Battlefront," has received some interesting gameplay demos at the E3 2015. Developer DICE greeted fans with a new round of gameplay footage.
In the new footage, players get a glimpse of the multiplayer, where the goal is to protect the base and take down the enemies. Note that the player here is on the side of the rebels. For the multiplayer aspect of "Star Wars: Battlefront," there will be a 40 multiplayer battles that pay homage to the Battle of Hoth.
The surprise at the end of the trailer is the appearance of none other than Darth Vader, signaled not just by a rebel being lifted into the air by the force but also the signature background music just for him. Another surprise, however, hero Luke Skywalker, who ends the trailer with a clashing of swords with Vader.
What is interesting about playing as a Jedi in "Star Wars: Battlefront" is the use of the lightsaber. Jedi playable characters can cut down soldiers with this weapon, as well as deflect some lasers from other enemies, IGN reported. And as seen in the final scene, Skywalker was able to clash lightsabers with Darth Vader as well.
This is where the team behind "Star Wars: Battlefront" remains true to its word of replicating and enhancing the best about the "Star Wars" universe and putting it into a game. From the sights of the battles and the movement of the character to the noticeable background music during the heights of the battle "Star Wars: Battlefront" offers players a way to get into, feel nostalgic over and be immersed in the franchise's universe.
However, this is not necessarily the case for the co-op, dubbed "Survival," Game Spot reported. As the name suggests, the game type lets players face off against swarms of enemies, with the goal of surviving as many waves as possible. While the demo at the event only provided a glimpse of some of the enemies, including jetpack troopers and an AT-AT, it appears that developer DICE has reserved the best for the actual game experience.
What lacked in the co-op was not necessarily the different variety of enemies waiting for battle. Rather, the feel of variety in the overall gameplay appeared to be lacking. Add the fact that the visual appeal of the co-op was hindered by the split-screen. It both hinders seeing the entirety of the map and can affect the way a player can go through the game.
