A new "Spider-Man" comic series is going to be released and the man behind the mask will be Miles Morales.
"Spider-Man" creator and writer Brian Bendis told New York Daily News that children of color would not be approved by their friends to play superheroes like Superman and Batman because they do not look alike. However, they can now be "Spider-Man" as anyone could be under the web-slinger's mask.
While the new Marvel posters show both Parker and Morales, Parker is still assumed to continue as the star of "The Amazing Spider-Man," as per Comic Book.
Marvel and Sony's revelation of a new "Spider-Man" film led social media to request Morales as the iconic neighborhood superhero instead of Peter Parker. Marvel may have granted the plea of the media in the new comic series. However, the studio has not revealed about Morales on the upcoming "Spider-Man" film.
In the comics, Morales initially appeared in "Ultimate Fallout #4" issue in August 2011, after Parker's death. A son of an African-American and Puerto Rican, Miles stands as the second "Spider-Man" in the Ultimate Marvel continuity.
Morales' incarnation of "Spider-Man" also has similar abilities to those of Parker's "Spider-Man." His powers were also obtained from the bite of a genetically-engineered spider.
In February, Marvel and Sony agreed on a partnership for a new "Spider-Man" film. The actor shortlist have been recently trimmed down to Tom Holland, Charlie Rowe, Matthew Lintz, and Charlie Plummer, with Holland and Rowe are the front-runners while Lintz and Plummer are still in conflict.
The two companies have not yet officially announced the new actor to don the "Spider-Man" suit and mask as well as the director who will helm the film.
The new "Spider-Man" comic series is slated to be hit comic stores, tablets, and smart phones this fall while the new "Spider-Man" film is slated to premiere in theaters on July 28, 2017.
