Talk about living and surviving in a desolate mountain. Well, at least, there are 15 of them out there; so, it won’t be lonely after all.
A new reality show was launched in cyberspace--yes, it’s an online show--on June 23 and the title is “15 of Us.” One can watch it via Tencent Video platform.
The Hollywood Reporter said that the show is the result of a partnership between Tencent and Talpa, a Dutch TV company. It said that last year the two entered into an agreement where Talpa will create shows with “non-scripted formats” exclusively for Chinese viewers.
“15 of Us” is about 15 individuals living together in a mountain in Tonglu County in Zhejiang Province. Their main goal is to establish a “self-sufficient society” through teamwork.
More than a hundred thousand Chinese across the country applied online to become part of the show.
The seven women who passed the screening process are:
Deng Biying, 24, a professional singer who also works in a wet market to make a living.
Liu Xi, 25, a shoemaker and designer who comes from Zibo, Shandong, Shanghai; she holds a degree in fashion design and can tap dance.
Liu Xi Luo, 24, has a career in fashion.
Song Ge, 27, a counselor, a Harvard University alumna; she is taking up a doctoral degree in psychology.
Tan Limin, 60, a retiree who sometimes goes around town biking or walking in her high-cut rubber shoes.
Xiao Fanfan, 20, a student who enjoys climbing trees to pick fruits.
Zhang Ting Xuan, 44, a fitness coach and mother of two.
The eight men who got selected are:
Guo Daohui, 28, a factory worker from Shandong who can perform street magic.
Niejiang Wei, 51, a photographer who likes outdoor challenges, such as hiking.
Liu Fuhua, 35, a crane operator who loves to cook; he is married and has a daughter.
Liuzhi Xuan, 26, a fashion designer from Zhejiang.
Qiu Zijian, 24, a professional boxer and model.
Sun Ming, 21, a soldier.
Yi Qiu, 25, travels around in a motorcycle; he can do carpentry tasks and sells wallets he made himself.
Zheng Hu, 25, a hotel manager; he plays the piano adeptly, has a good singing voice, and aspires to become a music teacher and to lose weight.
“15 of Us” will have its TV premiere on June 29 on Dragon TV.
