Fan Bingbing and Li Chen’s selfie initially posted by Li on his Weibo page confirmed the romance between the two stars of the TV drama “The Empress of China.”
The picture simply captioned as “Us” says it all.
Fan shared it on her own Weibo page and social media handled the rest. More than three million netizens “liked” it so far and was shared more than 900,000 times already.
Fan and Li visited Tibet where media reports said it has something to do with Fan’s charity work. Some netizens went as far as to speculate that the two were looking for a house.
Fan, who is also the producer, plays the lead role in “The Empress of China,” where Li stars as a general and a childhood sweetheart of the empress. It is the first time the two have worked together.
Speculations about a brewing romance between the two were further fuelled when the two posed for a picture with Li’s grandmother. The picture shows the two standing side by side behind Li’s grandmother, who was seated, with Fan’s one hand placed on the elderly’s shoulder.
The “Empress of China” boasts of a huge budget--300 million yuan or more than $48 million--and a stellar cast, including Aarif Rahman aka Aarif Lee and Zhang Xin Yu aka Viann Zhang.
Hong Kong actor and Cantopop singer Aarif plays an emperor who fell in love with the empress. He and Fan were former lovers.
Chinese actress-singer-model Zhang once dated Li. The “Empress of China” was their first time to work together again after their breakup.
Li, who also goes by the name Jerry Lee Chan, replied to a Weibo post by former girlfriend Zhang. Her post triggered rumors that Fan was the ultimate cause of her failed relationship with Li.
Zhang said in her post, "Sometimes the people you think will be around all your life might suddenly disappear, and there isn't even a chance to hug them."
Li said he was single and so was Fan when they started dating each other. Defending his “Little Fan” further, he said that his relationship with Zhang ended when she “cheated” on him.
The general indeed loves the empress and vice versa. Fan Bingbing and Li Chen are now officially dating.
