"The Ugly Truth" actress Katherine Heigl is set to star in yet another romantic movie "Jenny's Wedding." Only this time she is playing a gay character, who is set to marry her long time partner, played by "Knocked Up" actress Alexis Bledel, much to the dismay of her conservative family.
The movie, releasing on July 31, cannot be timed better as it is coming out when the whole country is rejoicing over recently passed Supreme Court ruling, which legalized gay marriage in all the 50 states of the United States.
"Jenny's Wedding" is based on a true story. The 36-year-old actress told Curve that she even met the real-life couple, on whom the movie is based upon, while filming the movie. The actress also disclosed that when they were filming the wedding scene, the couple was also present on the set.
The movie is about a girl named Jenny, who drops the bomb on her family by announcing them that she is going to marry her close friend, Kitty. The family, especially Heigl's character's mother, played by Linda Emond, has a tough time accepting the reality and the true sexual orientation of her daughter.
The movie explores how Jenny's relationship with each member of her family evolves as she approaches her wedding day.
The Oscar nominee, Tom Wilkinson, will be seen playing the role of the 36-year-old actress' father. Meryl Streep's daughter Grace Gummer also has a significant role in the upcoming movie, playing the role of Jenny's sister, Entertainment Weekly reported. The movie is directed by Mary Agnes Donoghue of 1988 hit flick "Beaches" fame.
