Chinese pop singer Jane Zhang finally made her 12-year relationship public, during a concert in Changsha on July 4.
“From the year I was 18, a man has kept my company and protected me. Now, 12 years have passed, and I don’t want to live alone any longer. I have thought it over. If you want to marry me, please come onstage,” said the 30-year-old actress.
The man was confirmed as Feng Ke, CEO of Show City Times. Feng was Zhang’s agent when she first landed in show business.
On the stage, Feng said that he should be the one to initiate the move and thanked the fans before kissing his longtime girlfriend in the limelight.
“Thank you all. We are very good and happy together,” he said.
According to reports, the couple first met in 2004 when Feng often showed up at the bar where Zhang had regular gigs.
Feng is 15 years her senior and has a son from a previous marriage.
A year later, Zhang auditioned for the "Super Girl" contest where she won the third place. She rose to fame after the singing competition, which is the Chinese equivalent of the "Idol" franchise.
Zhang made the announcement after performing “Zhong Yu Deng Dao Ni,” (“You Are Finally Here”), theme song of the previous TV series “Let’s Get Married.”
The singer, known for her dolphin-like vocals, won 42 best singer awards over the last 10 years of her career.
The concert in Changsha was part of Zhang’s “Bang the World Nationwide Concert.”
Her next performance will be in Wunan, Hubei Province, on July 11.
