"Penny Dreadful" Season 3 is set to introduce an iconic character straight from horror literature. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the show creator John Logan revealed that "another famous literary character" will be added to the cast of the show. This will be the fourth such character to be added to the show after the introduction of Frankenstein, His Creature and Dorian Gray.
"It's been fun going into another writer's brain and bringing one of those great characters back into our world," John Logan said.
Meanwhile, several media outlets such as Cartermatt, is speculating that Lily and Dorian could be the next "big bad" or main villains of "Penny Dreadful" Season 3. Speaking to IGN, John Logan revealed that the couple is "quite formidable." They will reportedly be the "big part of next season."
"And they're terrifying. Because whereas The Creature wants to be a part of humanity, to be one with humanity, and to be accepted by other people, Lily and Dorian want to rule over humanity. And it's a chilling, scary thought," John Logan added.
In another interview with the Hollywood Reporter, John Logan said that Lily and Dorian are on a "sinister journey" and they have no interest in being normal like others. According to the show creator, the two characters are only interested in "conquest, standing above, in superiority." Their storyline in Season 3 will be "about getting power in a really unique way," according to John Logan.
The showmaker assures that all the characters will come back together in "Penny Dreadful" Season 3. They will reportedly be brought together through some supernatural force, "partly romantic, partly shared destiny."
"Penny Dreadful" Season 3 will premiere in the year 2016. The release date is yet to be announced. It is said that the show will begin production in fall 2015 at Dublin.
