Florida State University Seminoles dismissed its first year quarterback De'Andre Johnson after a video showed the athlete punching a woman at a bar.
FSU coach Jimbo Fisher announced the team's decision to let go of the QB just hours after the state attorney's office released the altercation video where Johnson was clearly seen punching a woman in the face, ESPN reported.

"Florida State head football coach Jimbo Fisher announced Monday evening that freshman De'Andre Johnson has been dismissed from the football team effective immediately," the statement read, quoted CBS Sports.
Johnson was initially suspended from the team in June after reports of the incident surfaced. However, it is now clear that the three-star prospect will not be suiting up for the Seminoles.
The player was charged with misdemeanor battery after striking a 21-year-old woman in the face while getting a drink at a bar in Tallahasee. On June 30, six days after the incident, Johnson surrendered to the police and was released on a $500 bond, ESPN explained.
The victim suffered a left eye bruise, swelling on the left cheek and upper lip, and a black eye.
According to Johnson's attorney, Jose Baez, the athlete apologizes for his misconduct and his family is taking steps to get the QB back on track.
"While it is clear from the video that De'Andre Johnson was not the initial aggressor, his family wants to take the lead in helping him learn and grow from this experience," Baez said in a statement, ESPN quoted.
"He is currently participating in community service and faith-based programs focused on battered women, substance abuse and the empowerment of children."
As for the FSU Seminoles, the team expects no major changes in its QB lineup. Sean Maguire and Everett Golson are expected to lead the University's QB roster.
