While consumers are itching to see the new laptop-tablet hybrid from Microsoft, the Surface Pro 4 release date was reportedly pushed back in the second half of 2016.
Buyers may have to wait longer to see the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 as several reports are now saying that the laplet will skip the alleged release date on July 29. The reports stated that this is because of the recently signed deal with Samsung Electronics for SSD supply contract.
According to Business Korea, the South Korea-based tech company signed a new deal with Microsoft to supply 256 GB SSDs for its laptops. The former will deliver 20 million units of the technology in the second half of next year.
The SSDs are built using Samsung's Non-Volatile Memory express (NVMe) technology is capable of transferring data at 2 GB/s which is over three times the speed of the Surface Pro 3's 600 MB/s. This is apt for the update that the company should incur if it wants to deliver a better device than Surface Pro 3, according to Techie News.
Aside from the delivery of SSDs, Microsoft is currently undergoing changes as The New York Times reported that the company will lay off 6 percent of its workforce. The sudden stir up in Microsoft's business, there are speculations that the imminent Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release will be delayed. It was previously reported that Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release will take place on July 29 alongside the launch of Windows 10.
Meanwhile, some of the purported features of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are: 12-inch screen display with 2K pixel resolution, Intel Skylake processor, stylus, and USB Type-C port. Just like the previous Microsoft Surface Pro 3, the device will sport a keyboard accessory that will transform the device into an ultra-portable laptop.
However, Microsoft remained tight-lipped on the details of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
