Set to premiere on The CW on Aug. 5, Wednesday, "America's Next Top Model" cycle 22 will feature both guys and girls for the third time and has height requirement for the second time. It may also be the last cycle, according to Tyra Banks.
At the 2015 TCA summer press tour, the "ANTM" executive producer and host told Zap2it, "Every time there was a copycat we would try to get better and better but we may be coming to an end soon. We shall see. It's only so long that the show can last."
Prior to this, Banks pointed out that "ANTM" was the first fashion-based competition reality show and then these other copycats come. She said there has been around 12 or 13 copycats in the United States alone.
Known for retiring from modelling when she was one of the top models in the world and leaving her talk show when it was on top, Banks said, "It's nice to walk away from something before it walks away from you (and) leave when people remember you at your height."
In addition, Banks said "maybe the boys" in "ANTM" cycle 22 are slightly stronger than the girls. It appears that she agrees with the Nyle DiMarco, a "Switched At Birth" actor and the first ever deaf contestant of the modelling competition.
DiMarco recently to Washingtonian that his strategy is to work with the "ANTM" cycle 22 judges and photographers to prove to them that he is there because he wants to win and that he is America's next top model.
