Swansea City AFC captain Ashley Williams had insisted that he will stay with the Swans despite the huge offers of rival Premier League clubs Crystal Palace FC and Everton FC, according to Wales Online.
Williams was adamant that he has not entertained the offers even though he admitted that he was flattered about them. Team manager Garry Monk have also reiterated that his 30-year-old center back will still be at the Liberty Stadium for at least this coming season.
"I'll be staying. The gaffer (coach Monk) has already said that," Williams said. "I'm used to dealing with the speculation and bids. It's part of the job and I just take it as a compliment and shows that you're doing your job properly. I'm committed to Swansea and just concentrating on Swansea this pre-season."
Rumors arose this summer that the Jacks would be willing to part ways with the Welsh captain for a fee of £15 million, as per BBC Sport. There are at least two teams who were speculated to make an even higher offer, and they Palace and Everton.
A move to Goodison Park would have reunited the Wales international with his former coach, Roberto Martínez, who was manager at Swansea when Williams was acquired by the team in 2008 from National League North club Stockport County.
Eagles' manager Alan Pardew had also long been interested in signing Williams and the Selhurst Park residents were also reportedly willing to unload more than the asking price for a shot at the veteran defender.
It was clear, though, that Williams is keen on staying with the Swans for the time being.
"There will come a time when Swansea will say 'we've had enough'. But I just get on with the job and lead this group of players to something we've never been to before, which we did last season," he said.
