English clubs Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC are currently competing for the services of Real Madrid left winger Denis Cheryshev in an effort to boost each side's scoring options as the new Premier League season opens.

Liverpool offered Real £14.9 million for the transfer of the 24-year-old Russia international on Saturday but Rafa Benitez had not responded yet, as reported by the Telegraph. The report also mentioned that Los Blancos executives have agreed to the amount and might be ready to part with their backup forward.

Cheryshev spent the last two seasons on loan with Sevilla in 2013-2014, then with Villarreal last season, as he could not penetrate the heavy first team striker lineup of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Jesé.

Even at the attacking midfielder position, Los Vikingos are top-heavy with Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos, and the Brazilian duo of Casemiro and Lucas Silva, leaving no spot for the young winger.

The Russian recently confessed that he was uncertain of his future with the squad.

"I have no idea as to what is going to happen. I've spoken to Marcelino and he confirmed that Villarreal hope to have my services next season but that's all," said Cheryshev, referring to his current coach while on loan. "I don't know where I'll be next season."

It looks like he would be heading to England next season if everything falls into place.

Meanwhile, Metro reported that Arsenal had also offered the same fee to Real to acquire the Russian and Benitez was speculated to have agreed to it than with Liverpool.

The rumor is not yet confirmed but the truth will be revealed soon.
