Chilling new details about the plot of hotly anticipated season 5 of FX's "American Horror Story" have emerged recently, according to which the upcoming installment, titled "Hotel," is said to be inspired by a real life incident that involved the mysterious death of a young woman in a downtown Los Angeles hotel that is said to be haunted.
The show's co-creator Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk told the audience during the "AHS" panel that they got inspired for the show's upcoming season after watching a chilling surveillance video that went viral two years ago in which a paranoid girl is seen getting into the elevator and was never seen alive again.
Although the duo did not specify the date and place of the said event, the fans of the show took to Twitter to point out that the description is similar to the mysterious death of the Canadian tourist, Elisa Lam, in the downtown Los Angeles hotel, formally known as the Cecil Hotel back in Feburary 2013.
It was reported that the woman's body was discovered from the facility's water tank a few days after she was gone missing. Since her body was found decaying in the overhead water tank for more than 10 days, it was most likely that other guests staying at the premises used the contaminated water, CNN reported.
Although Lam's death was later reported as accidental drowning, it was widely reported that the above mentioned hotel has a dark past as a couple of serial killers used to reside in the premises frequently.
With the show's season 5 set to premiere on Oct. 7, the cast members are finally being revealed. While singing sensation Lady Gaga is set to debut on TV by playing the role of Elizabeth, the wealthy hotel owner with a "nefarious plan," "Unbroken" actor Finn Wittrock will play the role of a young model who is smitten by her.
"Behind The Candelabra" actor Cheyenne Jackson will play the role of a fashion icon and a hotel guest while Kathy Bates will star as hotel manager Iris. Wes Bentley, Chloe Sevigny, Angela Basset, Sarah Paulson and Matt Bomer are also expected to join the cast, Christian Post reported.
