"The Spectacular Now" actress Brie Larson has confirmed her role in Jordan Vogt-Roberts' upcoming "Kong: Skull Island" in a unique way.
Larson has tweeted a photo on her official Twitter account on Aug. 8. The photo shows a small envelope with the text "Brie, Welcome to the jungle. Love, King Kong." One of the uncommon ways to introduce one's role in a film, Larson's photo caption reads "Here we go!," along with tags "Skullisland," "VogtRoberts," "twhiddleston," and "Legendary." The actress' photo has got more than 700 favorites.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Larson was reported to be in talks to be part of Vogt-Roberts' film after Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons left the film. The actress will be the film's female lead, along with "Thor" actor Tom Hiddleston, as per Cinema Blend.
Aside from James Posoldt's romantic comedy film "The Spectacular Now," Larson is also known for her roles in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's action comedy film "21 Jump Street," Destin Daniel Cretton's drama film "Short Term 12," and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's romantic comedy film "Don Jon."
Larson will also be seen in Dan Baron's musical comedy film "Basmati Blues," Lenny Abrahamson's drama film "Room," and Ben Wheatley's action-crime drama "Free Fire."
Set in the 1970 Detroit, "Kong: Skull Island" serves as the prequel to the story of King Kong, featuring the enigmatic titular island, which is believed to be inhabited by various sorts of monsters and creatures. Along with Larson and Hiddleston, "Kong: Skull Island" also stars Samuel Jackson, Corey Hawkins, John Reilly, and Tom Wilkinson, among others.
"The Kings of Summer" director Vogt-Roberts is set to helm the film while Max Borenstein and John Gatins are on board to pen the screenplay. Alex Garcia, Jon Jashni, Eric McLeod, Mary Parent, and Thomas Tull will co-produce the upcoming action-adventure film.
At this point, additional characters and exact plot details for the film are yet to be revealed.
Vogt-Roberts' "Kong: Skull Island" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Mar. 10, 2017.
