Password manager app LastPass recently announced that it will offer its service to users for free. The app encompasses several platform including smartphone, desktop and tablet devices.

LastPass made the announcement via its blog posting, "We're excited to announce that new users can get started with LastPass for free, on any device, including mobile devices! You can then upgrade to LastPass Premium to enjoy unlimited sync across all your devices."

According to PC Mag, the free service covers data sync between two similar devices. This means that user data can be synced between two smartphones or two tablets. On the other hand, if users want to sync their account across different platforms, they are required to upgrade to a premium account.

Users who used the mobile version of the app and decided to use it on their desktop computer will get a 14-day trial period of the app's Premium service. Additionally, current LastPass users can still continue to use the service without any changes. This goes to all users, free or premium.

For users who wants to sign up for the Premium service, it will cost them $12 per year. The Premium service allows user to sync unlimited number of devices across all platforms. The Premium subscription will also allow users to access the Shared Folder giving them more convenience in sharing their passwords with other people.

There is also a LastPass Enterprise subscription aimed for big corporations or teams that need to share similar passwords. It costs $24 per person annually. The Enterprise subscription give users access to a unified Admin Console, automated provisioning and AD integration.
