iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus release is reportedly set in mid-September and Apple is prepping for the mass production of the devices for their imminent release.
According to DigiTimes, which has a hit or miss reputation when it comes to Apple-related rumors, Apple turned to TSMC and Samsung for the chipsets of the upcoming smartphones. The tech giant reportedly asked for discounts for the new processors. Apparently, both manufacturers agreed to drop prices for their biggest client.
Samsung will be the primary supplier of A9 processors and will be reinforced by TSMC, which said that volume production of its 16nm chip is in line with the schedule, dismissing speculation that the foundry is seeking a cutback of orders from Apple.
The A9 chip is supposed to be faster and more energy-efficient than its predecessors. The chip is built on 16nm (TSMC) and 14/15nm (Samsung) technology.
Meanwhile, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is a credible Apple tipster, the new iPhone may miss the purported release on Sept. 9. Chinese publication UDN reported that Apple encountered a bump while working on the new iPhones. Apple instructed to ramp down the production of the current iPhones to make way for the upcoming smartphones.
Moreover, the production of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will start in late August. The analyst also added that Foxconn will take care of the 60 percent of the total iPhone 6S units and 100 percent of iPhone 6S Plus units. The remaining 40 percent of iPhone 6S will be taken care of Pegatron.
Some of the purported features of the iPhone 6S are A9 processor, 4 GB of RAM, iOS 9 with software features such as Car Play, Apple Watch, HealthKit, and Apple Pay as well as improved Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
However, Apple has not confirmed the official specs and features of the upcoming iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
