On Thursday, the electronics manufacturer Samsung revealed the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event in New York. The Galaxy Note 5 has borrowed a lot of features from Galaxy S6.
The Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 sport 5.7-inch Super-Amoled display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels and have 4GB RAM. The two devices are powered by a 64-bit octa-core Exynos processor. The Samsung Galaxy S6 also has same octacore Exynos processor.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 smartphones have a 5 MP front-facing camera and 16 MP rear cameras with optical image stabilization and f/1.9 aperture. The Galaxy S6 also has a 16 MP rear camera with optical image stabilization.
The two handsets will be available in 64GB and 32GB and variants. Both have no microSD card slots. The two devices come with a 3000mAh non-removable battery.
The batteries feature Samsung's fast charging technology for wireless and wired options. With wired charging, the smartphone can be completely charged in 90 minutes, and through the new wireless charger, the handset can be completely charged in 120 minutes. The Galaxy Note 5 also feature a new and improved S Pen.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 gains the Galaxy S6's materials and design such as a glass front and rear and a metal frame.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 will offer 4G LTE Cat. 6 or Cat. 9 network connectivity modems depending on the market. In addition, they feature MST(Magnetic Secure Transmission) and NFC (Near Field Communication) connectivity technology to power the Samsung Pay mobile payment technology. GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2 are some of the other connectivity options.
The handsets will be available in Silver Titanium, Gold Platinum, Black Sapphire and White Pearl color variants, BGR reported.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 will be made available from August 21, according to The Verge. Pre-orders for the smartphones have started in the United States. In the US, the Note 5 will be available via AT&T at $839.99 for the 64GB variant and at $739.99 for the 32GB variant, whereas the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will be priced at $914.99 and $814.99 for the 64GB and 32GB variants.
