By natural order the new is normally better than the best and in the case of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, what will be seen on its release date is only expected to overwhelm the predecessor - the Galaxy Note 4.
But based on a new report such is not the case. While it is given that Note 5 will out-spec its older sibling, likely boasting of upgrades specs seen earlier this year with the Galaxy S6 that in turn is a major step up from the Note 4, the device may be sorely lacking in two key areas. One of them, according to Phone Arena, is battery might.
Picking up on the latest leak from Evan Blass, otherwise known @evleaks, Phone Arena reported that the Note 5 to be unveiled by Samsung this week, August 13 to be exact, will likely rock a 3000mAh battery pack. The same goes with the Galaxy S6 Plus that will be uncloaked at the same time with the fifth-gen Samsung phablet flagship.
Now it may seem that 3000mAh is massive enough for a beastly phone like the Galaxy Note 5, which sports a huge 5.7-inch front panel and fired up by the latest 8-core Exynos chip from Samsung, but a quick check back would reveal that the Note 5 is a step back in the battery department.
It appears that the Note 4 last is fully capable of generating more energy juice as it came out of the box with a 3220mAh battery.
Despite the lower rating @evleaks reported that the Note 5 is optimized to deliver talk time of up 21 hours while on stand by the device will last a maximum of 336 hours. How exactly this will be realized, Blass did not detail.
His new report came out following the recent revelation that like the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge earlier this year the Note 5 will not have microSD slot - that means there is no way to expand on the built in memory deployed with the device.
Again if true, the Galaxy Note 5 on release date will lag on two areas where the Note 4 excels - larger battery and memory expansion. This will be confirmed this week and the actual unboxing following the second Unpacked 2015 in New York.
