Google's product manager Jamal Eason finally revealed the official dessert name of Android M and naming it as Marshmallow.
Android Marshmallow features Now On Tap that allows users to access the giant's digital assistant Google Now by just the home button on the mobile phone, according to CNET. The feature is also similar to Apple's Siri. Now On Tap gets into the user's data to give them informative suggestions based on the present activity, including what kind of email the user is reading or the search for restaurant in a nearby place.
Also, Android M packs Google's latest Android Pay mobile wallet platform, USB Type-C support, and significant changes on the operating system. It has also a support for fingerprint sensors that authenticates the use of Play Store and Android Pay services.
Marshmallow simplifies the "permissions" model for users when installing and upgrading apps by granting permissions right away to various apps. Users can also experience the updated power-saving mode named 'doze', reducing the background activity when the device is not being held.
In line with finalizing the name for the software, the search engine giant has also launched the completed version of Android 6.0 SDK and the final Marshmallow software preview for the Nexus devices, The Verge reported.
Eason said that the final preview build for Android Marshmallow is now available for download. He added that the public release of the software will happen in the third quarter of 2015, but users need to wait for the approval of their manufacturers and service providers before the update rolls out.
