Technology giant Lenovo is reportedly eyeing to unveil the cheapest 4G smartphone in the Indian market. This comes after it posted a decline in its net profit for its first financial quarter ending June 30.
According to The Times of India, Lenovo's A2010, the cheapest in the firm's portfolio with 4G connectivity, is likely to launch in the country after it has become available in Vietnam earlier this month for 1,690 Vietnamese Dong.
Powered by Mediatek MT6735, a 64-bit quad-core processor with integrated 4G LTE World Mode, Lenovo A2010 is one of the cheapest smartphones running Android Lollipop. The said processor enables the unit to support and work on all of India's 4G bands.
Lenovo A2010 has a 4.5-inch display, 854-by-480p resolution and dual-SIM slots. It also features 1GB RAM, 8GB storage (with micro SD slot for storage expansion up to 32 GB) and a 2,000mAh battery.
The smartphone is available for 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. Its features also include a 5MP primary camera, with LED flash, and a 2MP front-facing camera.
Technology research firm IDC said that Lenovo has a 6-percent share in the rapidly growing smartphone market in India. Its 4G-enabled smartphone units, such as A6000+, A7000, K3 Note, and its Motorola range of 4G supported smartphones, have seen strong sales performance in the said market.
According to the firm's recent financial report, its net profit fell by $102 million from the previous year's $211 million. Its profit before tax also went down to $52 million, an 80-percent decrease.
