"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 rumours claim that Sandra Oh's fan-favourite character may return to the show premiering this fall. Speculations about Dr. Cristina Yang's return sparked up after the actress posted a photo of her with her on-screen beau and former co-star Kevin Mckidd.
On Aug. 18, "Grey's Anatomy" alum Sandra Oh posted a photo of her reunion with Kevin McKidd, who portrays the role of Owen Hunt. For years, their characters on ABC's long-running medical drama played a couple in an on-and off relationship until Cristina Yang departed at the end of Season 10. Cristina and Owen were also once married.
The photo in question got fans and media outlets talking about Sandra Oh's return for a brief appearance on "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12. However, the Emmy-winning actress' photo caption read: "Me & @TheRealKMcKidd at his belated bday dinner. May u catch Brave New Waves all this year dearest friend."
This is not the first time rumours about Cristina Yang's return have surfaced. Ever since Sandra Oh said goodbye to the show, fans have hoped to see her again.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 saw the death of a well-loved character Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) bringing an end to memorable romantic relationship between Derek and leading lady Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Meredith will be dealing with new challenges as a single-parent of three kids in Season 12 of the long-running medical drama. As reported by International Business Times, Meredith will find support in her half-sister Maggie and her late husband's sister Amelia. Meanwhile, the website speculates whether Meredith's best friend Cristina Yang will return to give her "moral support" or not.
It is noted Sandra Oh and other associated people are yet to confirm the news about Cristina Yang's appearance in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12. Thus it is wise to take the information with a pinch of salt. Nonetheless, Sandra Oh is willing to make one final appearance before the series comes to an end.
"There are certain things that Shonda and I talk about once and then we leave it because we want things to happen without pressure. I told her, 'If you guys want to finish it out however you want to finish it out, I'd be more than happy to come back. And if it doesn't fit in that way, I totally understand. I just want you to know that I'm available.' Who knows! I might be doing something fabulous and it might not work out but I did say, 'Yes, of course I would.' Sandra Oh told The Hollywood Reporter previously.
Meanwhile, Venture Capital Post notes the death of Derek Shepherd has opened the doors for "Meredith and Cristina's reunion" in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 as Meredith takes on a new journey as a single mother.
