Nintendo's 2DS gaming system drops prices in response to its lackluster sales and is set to go down by the end of the month.
Gaming titan Nintendo has declared that they will bring down the prices of the portable gaming system in order to boost sales, and gain more customers.
The 2DS was originally priced at $130 and will now costs $100 and will be sold with the 7th installment of their top grossing games, Mario Kart.
First introduced in late 2013, the design was geared towards inexperienced gamers, with WiFi features enabling users to sync up and play on the web with other online users.
This later model, took a step backwards from its precursor, the 3DS, removing the features most beloved by Nintendo's patrons, features like the foldable design, and the 3-dimensional occlusion that was the main selling point of the previous model, which was released in 2011 reported Realty Today.
Though the 2DS was able to run early games from the 3DS, compatibility issues made the later games from the 3DS's game library, making it sell less and making the system gain more notoriety.
The price changes may seem tempting to parents planning to buy a budget wise console for their children, but this will hardly impact sales for the console maker, with their games still priced at a range $30 to $40, making the overall costs of the console even higher than anticipated.
With the rise of smartphones capable of graphic gaming, the sales for the game dedicated portable stations have declined. But even with deteriorating demand, Nintendo and even competitor Sony, keeps releasing portable systems according CNet.
With present technologies available this year, it is now cheaper to create the 2DS than it was to create when it came out in 2013, and even more so with the 3DS, making a larger profit opportunity for the company.
