Several reports suggest that the tech giant Google will release two Nexus smartphones this year - Nexus 5 (2015) and Nexus 6 (2015). One will be manufactured by the electronics manufacturer LG and one will be made by the Chinese manufacturer Huawei. However, if reports are anything to go by, the search giant may roll out two smartphones and one tablet.
According to a Mobi Picker report, the Nexus 8 tablet has made a visit to a benchmark testing site. Google released Nexus 9 tablet alongside the Nexus 6 smartphone in 2014. The Nexus 8 2015 version of the tablet is being anticipated to be launched in 2015.
The Nexus 8 tablet was running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, according to the Geekbench benchmark test report. However, reports suggest that when the tablet gets launched, it will run the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
The Nexus 8 tablet will be powered by an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz, Phone Arena reported. It will not feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Instead, according to the results, Nexus 8 (2015) will be powered by a MediaTek chip. It is expected that the tablet will feature an 8-inch display.
It is not clear who will make the Nexus 8. It could be Samsung or HTC as both have manufactured a previous Nexus tablet. Also, the tech giant Google could bring ASUS back on board to make the tablet.
It is important to note that the Nexus 7 tablets were produced by ASUS, while the Nexus 9 was manufactured by HTC. The Nexus 10 was manufactured by South-Korea-based Samsung.
