Social network giant Facebook recently announced that it will roll out a new update for its photo sharing app, Moments. The new update will allow the Moments app to automatically create music videos from their device's photo collection which in turn can be shared privately or posted directly on their Facebook page.

According to MacWorld, the Moments app was first launched in June and let users privately share photos from their Camera Roll folder directly to their Facebook friends.

Upon its release, many users instantly likened the new feature to the digital flipbooks from Flipagram with the exception of rights for songs that the service was able to secure.

Instead of using copyrighted songs, Tech Crunch reported that Moments will use will offer about a dozen background music.

Despite its similarities with Flipagram, many reviews cited that Moments' greatest feature that sets it apart from the competition is it is already synced with Facebook. Allowing the app access to the user's device photo folder automatically allows the app to identify the user's friends list and tag suggestion.

The app allows users to create a specific set of photos which they can share to their Facebook friends. After selecting a set of photos, the Moments app then creates a collage of the selected photos with the option to add background music from 10 musical themes.

Editing the video can be done by simply swapping out the photos or change the background music. Facebook also claim that the update will add support for more than 34 languages. The new version of Moments can be downloaded on the Google Play Store for Android devices and Apple App Store for iOS devices.
