"Fifty Shades Darker" star Dakota Johnson recently weighed in on reports that "House of Cards" director James Foley will be helming the upcoming sequel.
In an interview with Empire Online, Johnson expressed her excitement over the news, but said that she was also scared at first.
Despite the fact that she has already met up with Foley, Johnson said that she is not sure what working with him will be like.
Of course, this should not come as a surprise because Johnson developed a close relationship with "Fifty Shades of Grey" director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who exited the franchise due to the misunderstandings she had with book author, E.L. James.
Meanwhile, fans of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise reacted negatively when they heard that a male director has been tapped to helm the film.
Fans also reacted when James' husband, Niall Leonard was tapped as the film's screenwriter. This is because some fans believe that the film, which is told from Johnson's perspective, should also be told from the perspective of a female director.
In other news, "Fifty Shades Darker" is not yet complete in terms of its casting. As of late, some characters, namely, Jack Hyde, Mrs. Robinson and Leila Williams have not yet been cast.
The film will start filming in Vancouver in February 2016 that is why fans would not have to wait any longer before they find out the next cast members that will join the franchise.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017.
