Australian singer Sia Kate Isobelle Furler's, more popularly known as Sia, will release its next project, "Sister," will feature "Dance Moms" star Maddie Ziegler.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sia dished that she scripted the screenplay for her upcoming movie "Sister" eight years ago. The project had to wait for all that time because she lacked confidence in her directing skills.
The "Elastic Heart" singer revealed that she only noticed she is good at directing when many people commented positively on her music video for "Chandelier."
Sia said, "I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I wanted to make a movie, because I thought it would be seen as a vanity project, because I was a singer... and then last year after I made the 'Chandelier' video, I realized that I was pretty good at directing, so I felt a little bit braver."
The Australian singer then sought assistance from children's book writer Dalles Clayton, and both spent three and a half weeks drafting their ideas.
While Sia did not unveil the actual plot of the upcoming movie, she indicated that the 12-year-old Ziegler will have a major role in "Sister
Ziegler and Sia have developed a very intimate relationship after the two worked together three times in the latter's music videos.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, the "Dance Moms" star dished that Sia was a big fan of the show, and that is how she came to know about her talent. Sia contacted Ziegler through social media and invited her to collaborate with her in the then her newest music video, "Chandelier."
Ziegler acknowledged that she does not work with Sia all the time, but it all depends on their schedules to perform or produce music videos. However, the two try to see each other whenever they find an opportunity off work.
Ziegler and Sia's next collaboration will come out in the course of next year.
