Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has her ongoing pregnancy of twins to thank for, otherwise she should be unemployed within six months given her poor performance, says New York University marketing professor Scott Galloway.

Galloway, in a radio interview hosted by Tom Keene of Bloomberg, described Mayer as an overpaid tech executive. He explains, "If she hadn't announced she was pregnant with twins, she'd be out of a job within six months," quotes the New York Post.

However, firing a pregnant expecting two babies would cause problems for the Yahoo board which would appear like it is leaning on Mayer, whom he added is the most overpaid CEO in history. Mayer's total compensation in 2014 was $42 million, up 69 percent from the $24.9 million she received in 2013, according to Business Insider.

Mayer was hired by Yahoo to convert the company that pioneered email from a media firm into a tech player. However, Vanity Fair notes that she is not too successful as it seems Mayer is content with just growing the media business.

The magazine cited other bad decisions that Mayer had made such as the large amount paid to David Pogue to build digital magazines and $20 million to broadcast match between the Jaguars and Bills, the least anticipated NFL game for 2015.

While Mayer is keeping her job, another Yahoo official - Kathy Savitt, the top media executive - announced on Friday she is leaving the company to move to STX Entertainment, a movie studio.

Under Mayer's leadership, Yahoo earned a profit of $1 billion a year, an amount which may appear big to ordinary companies, but not impressive for a giant and tech pioneer like Yahoo. Vanity Fair concludes by asking if "the job she was handed at Yahoo was ever even possible in the first place."
