The 2006 Ferrari FXX 29/30 signed by Michael Schumacher is headed to auction by the end of this month even as news about the seven time world champion's health condition remain blurred.
According to Motor Authority, the car that bears the signature of the recuperating F1 ex-racer may "sell for less than its original sticker price."
The publication indicated that the decline in the price of the car is not based on the usual vehicle depreciation.
"The track-only models were originally sold through the FXX program, where Ferrari VIPs essentially paid to become development drivers. And this one comes à la carte, without the track-side support and ongoing factory-performed maintenance, hence the discount."
As a result, the price of the auction may be approximately $2.3 million as opposed to its $3 million price tag in 2006.
Regardless of the age of the car, it is still reportedly a strong track weapon since it is shipped with an 809 horsepower and just 1,500 miles recorded travel. The car has been in the hands of a collector since 2007 when it was bought straight from Ferrari.
Only thirty cars were manufactured under the FXX model and the Ferrari FXX 30/30 was made particularly for Schumi and uniquely black, Australian Network News reported.
Similarly, the Schumacher-driven Ferrari, the F310B example that wrote the F1 history may also be up for auction. However, the car did not buy Schumi any championship titles apart from the 'fighter' notoriety title.
The car is reportedly powered by Ferrari Tipo046 75-degree V10. Notably, this was the same car that the recovering champion used before the final race in Jerez where he and Jaques Villeneuve attained the same time in the qualifying match, but Schumacher was downgraded to second position. The car is supposed to sell for $733,187 at Auctionata.
The F1 ex-racer is currently recovering in his Lake Geneva home after suffering severe head and brain injuries while skiing in the French Alps in December 2013.
