With the ABC hit show "Once Upon a Time" season 5 just a few weeks away, latest reports show that Meghan Ory will come back as Ruby. Furthermore, executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz recently teased on the secret of the Dark Swan.
Much to the excitement of fans, Ory who initially played Ruby will be returning to the show to reprise her role, TV Line reported. According to the publication, Ory will only appear in a number of episodes of season 5.
In the previous season finale, fans saw Emma (Jennifer Morrison) being consumed by the Darkness and she has become the Dark One referred to as the Dark Swan. Kitsis and Horowitz provided some insights about what will happen to the character in the upcoming season.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly to talk about the possible difference now that Emma is the dark Swan, Horowitz said, "I would say that Dark Swan is an extension of Emma and an exploration of who she is."
The executive producer also dished on another name in the series asserting, "Just like when Rumplestiltskin [Robert Carlyle] became the Dark One, it became an extension of all the character traits, flaws, and strengths he had."
Kitsis said that initially Rumplestiltskin was a coward but the knife gave him the liberty to be formidable. He added that Emma's transformation has been advantageous to them since they could explore her character even deeper.
He said, "Emma becoming Dark Swan has been a great opportunity for us to explore who she is at her deepest levels and to see those traits exploded in a way. That's what the Darkness does to you. It takes who you are and twists it, and that's what we're going to see with Emma."
"Once Upon a Time" season 5 premieres on ABC on Sept. 27, Sunday.
