With the beginning of fall 2015, several fan-favourite TV shows are returning. It is time to resolve that cliffhanger or a mystery and answer those burning questions that left fans wondering and guessing while the shows were on hiatus. Here is a list of highly-anticipated returning TV shows of fall 2015 along with its airdate and brief spoilers revealing what to expect when the show returns.
1. The Big Bang Theory: Kaley Cuoco (Penny) and Johnny Galecki (Leonard) starrer "The Big Bang Theory" returns with Season 9 on Sept. 21, 2015. CBS' sitcom's Episode 1 is titled "The Matrimony Momentum" and features the much-awaited wedding of Penny and Leonard. The trailer (via Movieweb) gives the glimpse of the couple's nuptials in Las Vegas. However, some marital problems are in store for the newly-wedded couple as the girl who Leonard kissed during expedition in the North Sea reappears.
2. The Walking Dead: After a long-break, "The Walking Dead" will return with all-new Season 6 on Oct. 11, 2015 with Episode 1, the title of which is yet to be revealed. Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus starrer show will see what happens during the group's stay at Alexandria Safe Zone.
3. South Park: The long-running animated Comedy Central sitcom "South Park" goes on air with its long-awaited Season 19 on Sept. 18. Not much is known about the show's Episode 1. But the network recently released a trailer for the ten-episode instalment teasing lots of blood splatter, violence and more blood splatter.
4. Fargo: After the success of its pilot instalment, "Fargo" is bringing Season 2 for its fans. The Episode 1 of the crime drama will air on Oct. 12. While the plot details still remain unknown, the show is said to be featuring a star-studded cast. Hollywood stars Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson, Jean Smart and Patrick Wilson will portray the role of some of the leading characters. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly Radio, Patrick Wilson promised that "Fargo" Season 2 is "epic."
5. Arrow: Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards and Colton Haynes reprise the role of Oliver Queen, Felicity Smoak and Roy Harper for "Arrow" Season 4 premiering on Oct. 7, 2 015. Episode 1 is titled "Green Arrow" and is expected to focus Oliver and Felicity's relationship. The executive producer of DC Comics show Marc Guggenheim told EW that Season 4 will see a change Oliver's outlook.
6. Scandal: Shonda Rhimes Production and Kerry Washington (Olivia) "Scandal" returns with Season 5 on Sept. 24, 2015. The show picks up right after the events of Season 4 finale and sees the aftermath of the destruction caused. Rhimes told TV Line that the upcoming instalment will focus on the "reconstitution" of Team OPA. Episode 1 is titled "Heavy is the Head" and will see Olivia and Fitz together, once again. The trailer for the upcoming segment teases Olivia and Fitz's passionate reunion and devastating divorce for Mellie.
7. How to Get Away With Murder: Another Shondaland show returning this fall is "How to Get Away with Murder." Season 2 premieres Sept. 24 with Episode 1 titled "It's Time to Move On." The network is yet to reveal the synopsis, but the trailer hints at the revelation of the answer of big question about the Rebecca's murderer.
8. NCIS: The long-running criminal procedure "NCIS" returns with Season 13 on Sept. 22, 2015. The show picks up from where it left off in Season 12 finale that saw Gibbs being shot twice in the chest. Plot details reveal that Gibbs is alive and recovering. However, the incident is going to change him in an unexpected way. Meanwhile, more plot rumours suggest the possibility of the return of Ziva and DiNozzo taking the lead while Gibbs is away. With "NCIS" Season 13, show's spin-offs "NCIS: New Orleans" and "NCIS: Los Angeles are also returning with their latest instalments this fall.
9. American Horror Story: FX's popular horror show "American Horror Story" returns with its Season 5 subtitled "Hotel" on Oct. 7. The Episode is titled "Checking In" and features Lady Gaga, Emma Roberts, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson and more. The synopsis for the upcoming segment reveals the Detective John Lowe (Wes Bentley) investigates series of brutal murders occurred in Los Angeles. Clues lead him to a hotel named Cortez--where it all begins.
10. Gotham: Ben Mckenzie (James Gordan), Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne), and others return in "Gotham" Season 2 premiering on Sept. 21, 2015. In the upcoming instalment, the newest villain Theo Galavan rises and wreaks havoc in the city. Episode 1 is titled "Rise of the Villains: Damned if You Do..."
