The second half of "Suits" season 5 is expected to premiere on January 2016. Episode 11, titled "Blowback," will reportedly pick up exactly where the mid-season finale ended.
Speaking to Yahoo! TV, showrunner Aaron Korsh shared that the writers and producers had talked about doing a time jump following the events of the midseason finale. They eventually decided against it and held that the coming episode will pick up immediately after Mike's (Patrick J. Adams) arrest and Harvey's (Gabriel Macht) resignation.
Korsh said that he felt a little bit relieved that they will finally address Mike's secret in season 5B, given that they have been "dancing around" this plot for a while.
In 2014, WJAC TV reported that Kimberly Kitchen was caught practicing law even after when did not go to law school, which is very much similar to Mike's case. The woman was arrested only after 10 years. Korsh held that it was very interesting that someone was able to get away with it much longer than Mike was.
Korsh also praised Adams's outstanding performance in the season finale. He said that the episode was "five years in the making," as viewers finally understood where Mike is coming from. He explained that fans will finally understand the struggles that Mike had to go through after losing his parents at such an early age.
The showrunner added that the next six episodes is going to be a course-change for "Suits." He also hinted that Mike's arrest will deeply impact his relationship with Rachel (Meghan Markle).
