Hands down, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the best flagship around mostly for its 4K display, besting the likes of Apple iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S6, the Galaxy Note 5 even. The Z5 Premium's pixel density of over 800 pixels per inch is just unmatched and will likely remain so in the months to come.
Yet the 4K display prowess of the Z5 Premium is not only its main weapon against it rivals. Along with the ability to render clips and pics in ultra-high definition, Sony if firmly confident that its new flagship device will stay true to its other main billing - an inflow of battery juice for at least 48 hours.
How is that possible? Selective display rendering is the key, according to Sony.
The Japanese device maker is pretty confident that the Snapdragon 810 packed with the Z5 Premium will not take a heavy hit on the 3430mAh power generator of the Z5, which is among the most massive battery pack that a flagship phone can have these days. Also, Sony issued assurance that even with its superb screen features the Xperia Z5 Premium will keep humming at the top of its form for two days.
For the Z5 Premium battery to last an average of 48 hours, the engineering trick goes like this - the Z5 4K display will not flash everything in 3840 x 2160 screen pixels. For instance, the Z5 Premium user interface like the home screen is rendered in 1080p.
Per a Sony statement given to Phone Arena: "The Xperia Z5 Premium features a 4K display with a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels based on SID Standard and enables all video and image content to be enjoyed in 4K resolution."
"All other content is displayed at 1080P or lower resolution in order to optimize the performance and battery stamina for this device, ensuring you can enjoy the 4K resolution when you need it most," Sony added.
So 4K on the Xperia Z5 Premium is not just a marketing pitch nor is Sony pulling everyone's leg. It's real but governed by top-notch engineering to keep the device in active service at extended time in a single charge.
On release date, said to be anytime on November 2015, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium will rock with a 5.5-inch screen and a camera system of 23MP on rear and 5.1MP on front. Running the show is the tandem of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and SD 810, which is tapped to 3GB of RAM.
