Guillermo del Toro's upcoming fantasy horror film "Crimson Peak" actually involves a maze.
"Halloween Horror Nights" creative director John Murdy has worked hand in hand with various directors and artists who have been involved in a maze conduct. In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Murdy said that he had not ever worked with someone who was as individually involved as del Toro. According to the publication, the filmmaker gave them the right to use the production's blueprints.
Murdy also mentioned that he had been working on the "Crimson Peak" maze all throughout the production of the film and revealed that his team viewed approximately 38,000 photos from the film's set. Working along with the "Crimson Peak" production team, Murdy also said that del Toro's design is a blend of horror and magnificence, calling it "High Horror."
"Crimson Peak" is set inside the Allerdale Hall, a gothic-looking country seat inhabited by horror. According to del Toro, he and his team built the three-story house in the biggest stage in North America and they structured a maze as an end to all mazes. Murdy explained that the mazes were slightly automated, as real people control the scares to make them realistic, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
With del Toro set to helm the film, Matthew Robbins is on board to co-pen the film screenplay. The film stars Leslie Hope, Javier Botet, Jim Beaver, Burn Gorman, Doug Jones, Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, and Mia Wasikowska.
Directed by del Toro, "Crimson Peak" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Oct. 16 while Universal Studios' "Halloween Horror Nights" will be released on Sept. 18. Watch the "Crimson Peak" trailer here:
