It seems that iPad Air 3 release in October is probably a hoax as Apple already pulled the plug on the line after releasing the new iPad Pro.
New reports claimed that no iPad Air 3 is coming next month as Apple already killed the iPad Air line due to its low sales. iPad Pro is reportedly the successor of iPad Air 2. For Apple, there is no sense in releasing another large tablet since a more powerful iPad Pro is readily available.
However, some Apple fans still believe that iPad Air 3 is coming next month. According to the Taiwanese media source Economic Daily News citing Fubon Bank analyst Liaoxian Yi, Apple decided to delay the iPad Air 3 release in 2016 to give way to the rumored iPad Pro.
Apple boasts iPad Pro as its most powerful iPad yet. It is paired with iPad Mini 4 as an alternative for buyers who want a tablet with smaller screen. Apple thinks that iPad Air 3 will cannibalize the sales of the new iPad Pro since the two tablets are closer in size. Moreover, there could be problems in terms of supply if suppliers are working on three tablets.
iPad Air 3 features reportedly include a stunning 4K screen display and an IP rating making it resistant to dust and water. According to Tech News Today, iPad Air 3 will pack a 9.7 inch screen panel with 4096 x 2160 pixels. The screen will also have 401 ppi and 4:3 aspect ratio. The tablet is also water and dust resistant allowing it to repel dust and moisture that may break the tablet.
Other rumored iPad Air 3 features are: A9X processor, iOS 9, 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB variants, and 8 MP iSight camera at the back and 2.1 MP front-facing camera.
However, Apple has not confirmed the aforementioned specs and features.
