Works from 16 French poets were introduced at Hongshan underground stations in Wuhan on Dec. 21, 2013. Officials from the Consulate General for France in Wuhan and Campus France attended the launching event.

The 28 pieces of works created by 16 French poets will be shown on all the stations along both Line 1 and Line 2. In the mean time, 197 pieces of works written by 191 Chinese poets including Yu Jian, Han Dong and Zhou Yaping will also be presented.

Fang Fang, Chairman of the Hubei Writers' Association, indicated that Wuhan had long been an open city which embraces both Chinese and foreign culture. The introduction of French poets' works to Wuhan's underground stations will not only help citizens learn the deep emotion within French poetry along with French history and culture, but also provide citizens with access to an international worldview. From now on, more foreign poets' works will be introduced to Wuhan to promote the cultural percepts to Wuhan.

Paris, France has the most extensive underground network in the world, and it has also developed a strong artistic atmosphere. Each underground station in Paris show various historic pictures and relic models, which became an important way to present French culture and art.

From September to December of 2012, Wuhan had already replaced 373 non-commercial billboards in underground stations along Line 1 with 17 pieces of works by 5 British poets and 100 pieces of works by 46 Hubei poets.
